some High Society revelers
BBQ Wrap-up
So, guys, after 6-weeks of planning our first dinner for The High Society Dining Club, we pulled it off! We went big for our first go with 24 attendees (initially we had a cap of 15 people, whoops!) ranging from friends, friends of friends, artists, entrepreneurs to moms (there were moms at our party!). Our menu was overly ambitious bringing contenders of Korean vs Texas BBQ. All in all, our guests seemed to leave pleasantly stuffed and sufficiently boozed. Here’s how it went down:
Guests began to trickle in right as the Friday night clock hit 8pm while we were bouncing back and forth between prepping dishes and gussying up into our party regalia. We prepared some cocktails (our signature high life beer’tail was in the mix) and began the welcome committee with a backdrop of Tina Turner gearing us into party mode. Kimchi quesedillas appetizers were passed and more aperitifs were consumed followed by more merry mingling until the first course was served at around 9:30.
Korean BBQ hit the table first (sliced Kalbi marinated beef, rice cakes in dragon sauce and a cooling bok choy and jicama slaw). There was some pressure coming from the Koreans (there were Koreans at our party!) but praises quickly ensued.
Yada yada, food, drinks, food, chatting, yada yada.
Texas BBQ was up next and by this time it seemed like people were full and surprised there was more on the way, but that didn’t stop everyone from finishing their plates (braised brisket, beans with pork belly and jalepeno cornbread). Yeehaw!
Yada yada, food, drinks, food, chatting, yada yada.
In the end, the general consensus was a first-prize for Korean. Next time, lone star.
Dessert was great. The whoopie pies filled with peanut butter ganache and dipped in chocolate were decadent and addictive. Sadly, we forgot to serve the poached pears and ice cream (the only item left over if anyone wants a sugar surge).
Yada yada, drinks, food, drinks, chatting, yada yada.
The night drifted to a close somewhere after the house stock of wine was depleted. Sounds like a fun time, right? And the tablecloth only lit on fire twice.
Now if we only had a dishwasher.
Looking forward to the next meal and mix of people.
Stay tuned for some party pics.

Welcome!
To The High Society Dining Club. Here is where you’ll find the happs on future dinners, glamor shots of past diners and pictures of food that you wish were scratch-and-sniff. Before we get to know you, here’s a little bit about us:
Aimee works as a private chef to families and intimate events in farm-to-table style, seeking to enrich meals and overall health. Keeping with the pulse of the growing food community in Brooklyn, Aimee is the in-house caterer for Brooklyn Kitchen as well as part of the well-known Roberta’s catering staff. Through Brooklyn Kitchen and The Meat Hook classes will be offered where Aimee leads groups around farmer’s markets and instructs how to consciously curate meals. Check out her website and blog: anatomyoffood.com.
Erica loves food, but does not use the term foodie (aside from this sentence). Having grown up in NYC, appreciation for enjoying top-rated restaurants to hunting for best slice (Joes, Mimis, and Best Pizza, to name a few) is innate. As a fan of elaborate European-style dinners and bringing great people together, starting a dinner club was a smart move. Knowing Aimee and her talents for years, she proposed the idea (at Aimee’s birthday celebration) of collaborating on this *munchie* inspired party of food, friends and friends of friends. Thus, The High Society Dining Club was born. She currently holds an office job.
Both Aimee and Erica are Sagittarius (according to the real Zodiac) and have lived in Barcelona.
The High Society Dining club meets monthly and is held in an undisclosed Williamsburg apartment.
